L-Glutamine 2g
Glutamine is the preferred fuel for intestinal epithelial cells. Multiple RCTs show L-glutamine supplementation improves intestinal permeability, reduces bloating, and supports mucosal healing. The intestinal barrier is only one cell layer thick. When that barrier is compromised (leaky gut), undigested food particles and bacterial lipopolysaccharides can trigger systemic inflammation. Zinc L-Carnosine (ZnC)
This patented form combines zinc (immune support, barrier repair) with L-carnosine (anti-inflammatory, mucosal protection). Multiple Japanese RCTs show ZnC significantly improves intestinal permeability markers, reduces endotoxaemia, and improves digestive symptoms. GI-ProHealth (Collagen Peptides)
Collagen is the structural foundation of the intestinal barrier. Specifically, type I and III collagen make up the intestinal lamina propria. RCTs using hydrolysed collagen peptides show improved barrier function markers, reduced intestinal permeability, and improved digestive symptoms. Soil-Based Organisms (SBO Probiotic)
Unlike dairy-based probiotics (Lactobacillus, Bifidobacterium), soil-based organisms (Bacillus species) are spore-forming and survive stomach acid. Multiple RCTs show SBO probiotics restore dysbiotic microbiomes, improve intestinal permeability, and reduce inflammatory markers. Inulin/FOS (Prebiotic Fibre)
Prebiotics are food for beneficial bacteria. They’re fermented in the colon to produce short-chain fatty acids (butyrate, propionate, acetate), which feed your colonic cells, reduce inflammation, and support the intestinal barrier. Multiple RCTs show prebiotic supplementation improves microbiome diversity and reduces inflammatory markers. The combination with probiotics (synbiotics) is more effective than either alone. Digestive Enzymes
Insufficient enzyme production (from age, stress, or underlying dysbiosis) leads to maldigestion. Undigested food particles trigger bloating, gas, and food sensitivities. Slippery Elm / Marshmallow Root
Both contain mucilage (a thick, viscous substance) that coats and protects the intestinal mucosa. Traditional use is supported by modern phytochemistry research. While fewer RCTs exist, preliminary studies and centuries of traditional use support these herbs for gut barrier protection and soothing inflamed mucosa. Important Considerations
Soil-Based Organisms and Immunocompromised States: If you have a severely compromised immune system (HIV/AIDS, on immunosuppressant medications post-transplant), SBO probiotics require special consideration. Discuss with your healthcare provider before starting. Standard dairy-based probiotics (Lactobacillus) may be safer in severe immunocompromise.
Digestive Enzymes and Pancreatic Conditions: If you have pancreatitis or a history of pancreatic disease, discuss enzyme supplementation with your gastroenterologist. Enzymes are designed to support normal digestion, not replace pancreatic function.
Glutamine and Glutamine Sensitivity: A very small percentage of people have glutamine sensitivity. If you experience headaches, mood changes, or worsening symptoms after starting L-glutamine, discontinue and discuss with your healthcare provider.
Fibre Transition and Bloating: If you’re introducing prebiotic fibre after a period of dysbiosis, you may experience temporary bloating or gas as bacteria ferment the prebiotic. This is normal (called ‘die-off’ or FODMAP sensitivity). Start with half-dose and increase gradually over 1-2 weeks. Ensure adequate water intake.

Frequently Asked Questions
How long until my digestion improves?
Gas and bloating improvements typically appear within 1-3 weeks (once enzyme supplementation supports better nutrient processing). Intestinal permeability repair (from glutamine, zinc, collagen) takes 4-8 weeks. Microbiome restoration (rebalancing of bacterial populations) takes 8-12 weeks. Full gut healing takes 12+ weeks, but measurable improvement usually appears within 2-3 weeks.
Do I need to use the Precision Fibre with this stack?
Fibre is essential, not optional. The prebiotic in this stack feeds beneficial bacteria, but it’s most effective when paired with adequate fibre intake (which your beneficial bacteria also ferment to make protective butyrate). Precision Fibre is designed to work with this. Without adequate fibre, you’ll get less benefit from the probiotics and prebiotics.
Can I take this with probiotics I’m already using?
Yes, but avoid redundancy. If you’re already taking a Lactobacillus/Bifidobacterium probiotic, adding a soil-based organism probiotic is synergistic. If you’re already taking soil-based organisms, you don’t need another strain. Discuss with your healthcare provider to avoid overdoing it. Quality matters more than quantity with probiotics.
What if I have FODMAP sensitivity?
Inulin and FOS are FODMAPs, meaning they can trigger bloating if your gut is very sensitive. If you have diagnosed IBS or FODMAP sensitivity, discuss this formula with your healthcare provider. You may need to start with half-dose and titrate up slowly, or use a lower-FODMAP prebiotic alternative.
